The school is administered and run by the principal. The present Principal is Madam C LALTHANGPUII, an experienced Lecturer who has been serving as head of educational institution for a long time. She had served in different government schools in the State.

The school offers eight academic subjects in Arts, five in Science and four in Commerce stream. English subject is compulsory in all streams of learning. Other subjects offered include major Modern Indian languages: English, Mizo, Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, etc. The school offers only Mizo as the Second Language subject as it does not have teaching faculty in the other language subjects mentioned above. A student needs to learn by himself/herself if he/she chooses a language subject other than Mizo. Other mainstream subjects are: Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Home Science, Computer Science, and Mathematics in Arts Stream, and we have Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Geology subject in Science Stream. A student has a freedom to select any one subject from Biology, Mathematics and Geology. For Commerce stream, subjects offered consists of Business Studies, Accountancy, Business Mathematics and Economics.

WHO WE ARE

Our school, Govt. Mizo Higher Secondary School, is a branch of Govt. Mizo H/S, Mizoram’s most prestigious and established high school. As one of the State’s top institutions, it has been serving the public for more than two decades. The school has enjoyed having students from all across the State attend since its first day in 1996. The school has produced strong academic results for more than a generation and continues to push itself to achieve greater academic success.

Generally the seating capacity of the school in various streams of learning in Class-XI is: Arts – 450 seats, Science – 80 seats, and Commerce-80 seats. The classroom cannot accommodate outside students in Class-XII except a few students with excellent academic record and no adverse remarks on his/her characters.
