The Commerce Department of Government Mizo Higher Secondary School, Aizawl, successfully conducted its first-ever out-of-state study tour to Kalinagar Tea Factory, Assam. This historic educational journey was made possible through the kind permission of the Directorate of School Education, Government of Mizoram.

The tour commenced on 8th May 2025, with the team traveling to Mizoram House, Silchar. On 9th May, the group proceeded to Kalinagar Tea Factory, located 74 kilometers away, where they were warmly received by the factory owners, Mr. Raghav and Mrs. Jyoity. The hosts graciously welcomed the students and lecturers with lunch packs and offered insightful exposure into the tea manufacturing process.

The tour group consisted of 74 students and 8 lecturers, traveling in two buses. This enriching visit provided a rare opportunity for the students to witness firsthand the operations of a tea production unit — from processing to packaging — expanding their understanding of industrial activities beyond classroom theory.

The group returned safely to Aizawl on 19th May 2025, with the tour concluding smoothly and without incident. Lecturers reported that the tour was extremely fruitful and informative. Students gained valuable knowledge that will greatly benefit their academic growth and future careers.

This milestone tour not only marked the school’s first educational trip outside Mizoram but also underscored the importance of interstate exposure for students. Visiting industries outside the state enables learners to broaden their perspectives, understand diverse business environments, and connect theoretical learning with real-world applications.
