ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS

The NSS Unit of Govt Mizo HSS organised Road Safety Awareness session on 29 September 2022 during the CCA period. Two city traffic officers were invited. The program aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately, to reduce casualties due to road accidents.

Students were sensitized to the issue of road safety and to spread awareness to ensure that students with valid driving license can safely drive within the city. Reiterating the importance of following road safety rules, One of the officers, Sir Benjamin made the students aware and requested them to be careful while driving on the roads, not to drive without proper driving license, know the importance of wearing approved helmet even within their own localities as accidents not only bring pain to the injured but also to their loved ones. He also emphasised the newly implemented harsher penalties for violating traffic regulations. The officer closed his talks with penalties for reckless driving and good driving etiquette for students.

Our NSS unit has been reflecting on the poorly addressed traffic awareness among students and was very thankful for the opportunity to learn the safety and awareness from the traffic police officers.

Our Senior Lecturer and NSS Leader, Sir Ni-a concluded the session with thanks and appreciation to our two city traffic police officers and recapitulated the safety and etiquette for students who are using two wheeler for their locomotion.
