General Interview Questions
Question 1. Tell me about yourself.
Answer: I was born and raised in Aizawl. Interacting with people and solving their problems is what motivates me. I’m always trying to fix things for family and friends, much to their chagrin.
Question 2: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Answer: One of my greatest strengths is my ability to learn fast on the job and teach myself different skill sets. And while I don’t have much experience in customer service, I think my ability to learn will help me overcome that obstacle quickly.
Question 3: What’s your idea of a call center?
Answer: To me, a customer service call center is the frontline of all customer interactions. It’s the job of call center agents to listen and understand customer concerns while also providing helpful information. At the end of the day, customer service call centers need to create satisfied customers with every call.
Question 4. What is your idea of quality customer service?
Answer: My idea of quality customer service is being able to provide customers with friendly, professional service that not only solves their problems or answers their questions, but also leaves them feeling satisfied with the service they received.
Question 5. How would you handle a call from an angry customer?
Answer: I think the first step is to stay calm and express to the customer that you understand them. I think it’s also important to remember that it isn’t personal, and the best way to de-escalate the situation is to work towards a solution.
Question 6: What makes you unique?
Answer: I’d love the opportunity to work with people who are making a difference.
Questions 7: What motivates you?
Answer: You can say you’re motivated by solving complex technical challenges. You can say you love collaborating and accomplishing big things as a part of a team, and that’s what drives you to do your best each day.
Question 8: What are your greatest strengths?
Answer: I’m a natural problem solver. I find it rewarding to dig deep and uncover solutions to challenges. It’s like solving a puzzle. It’s something I’ve always excelled at and something I enjoy. Much of product development is about finding innovative solutions to challenging issues, which is what drew me to this career path in the first place.
My biggest strength is that I’m very efficient at working under pressure. No matter the crisis or stress, I can make the right decisions on-the-spot.
Question 9: What are your greatest weaknesses?
Answer: I sometimes have trouble saying ‘no’ and end up overwhelmed by my workload. Earlier in my career, I would take on so many projects that I’d work evenings and weekends. It was stressful. I realised this was counterproductive so I started using workload management tools and setting better expectations for myself and my teammates.
At this stage, I’m much better than I’ve ever been, but I’m still far from perfect.
Question 10: What Is CRM?
Answer: CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. It is a process or methodology used to learn more about customer’s needs and behaviors in order to develop stronger relationships with them.
Question 11: If You Were an Animal, Which One Would You Want to Be?
Answer: “That’s a great question! Let me think about that.” “Wow. I’ve never been asked that before! You’ll have to give me a second.” “Huh, and I thought I’d be ready for anything. Let’s see…”
Question 12: What has been your biggest academic achievement?
Answer: My biggest academic achievement was my recent practicum. I completed my junior year practicum teaching third graders, and my supervisor evaluated my performance at a highly effective rating. This is huge for me because I’ve worked long hours to develop my ability to deliver engaging lessons and create unique approaches to working with gifted students and students with learning disabilities
Question 13: Is there much to do in your hometown?
Answer: Oh yes, there’s certainly lots to do there as it’s a fairly big city. If you like going out in the evening there are a lot of good restaurants and bars. If you prefer cultural activities there are museums and art galleries. But if you like nature there are lots of other things outside of the city which are easy to reach.
Question 14: Where is your hometown?
Answer: My hometown’s in Aizawl District, which is the capital of Mizoram. It’s located in the north of the country, not really that far from the western Burmese border.
Question 15: What are the people like in your hometown?
Answer: They are mostly quite friendly, but as with most big cities everyone is often busy so it may seem as if they are not interested in speaking or having a chat. But if you live there you know that most people are quite happy to have a chat if they have time and will help you if needed.
Question 16: What do you like most about your studies?
Answer: We learn about many things from the past such as politics and wars, but I like learning about how people lived in the past the most. It’s amazing to see how our lives have changed so much from the past up until now. In some ways our lives have got much easier now, but in other ways the simplicity of life in the past made people much happier. Learning about all that is fascinating.
Question 17: What do you hope to do in the future when you have finished?
Answer: I’m not sure at the moment, but I may go into teaching. I’ll probably decide for sure what to do when I have completed that.
Question 18: What do you like to do in your free time?
Answer: I do quite a lot of sport actually. I play football mostly – on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoon with a local team. I also play tennis and squash when I can but I don’t really get the time to do them as well every week. I work quite hard at the moment, so I don’t get a lot of free time unfortunately.
Question 19: Have your leisure activities changed since you were a child?
Answer: Not a great deal actually. I used to love playing football when I was young as well – I played a lot at school. Though of course I did all the other things kids loved to do such as going out on bike rides after school and things.
Question 20: Do you prefer to spend your free time alone or with other people?
Answer: It depends on my mood really. I think most people need some time on their own. Sometimes my work is quite stressful and I spend a lot of time there with others, so it’s good to just get home and relax and read a book or something. But I get bored if I am alone too much so I like to go out and meet friends in the evening or play football.
Question 21: How do you manage your time?
Answer: I just go through them each day and decide which I need to tackle first. At work we do have an online diary which I guess I use, so in that sense I do manage my time to an extent.
Question 22: What kind of books do you like to read?
Answer: I mostly like to read biographies. I’m not sure why but it is interesting to read about people’s real lives, especially when they have had interesting lives and have had to deal with many problems. I do read fiction as well, but I often find it difficult to get hold of a book that I really like. I also like reading about books to do with current affairs.
Question 23: Describe someone who has had an important influence on your life.
Answer: This person is actually my father. I am 20 years old so of course I have known him for 20 years as he’s my father. We still live together, along with my mother, my older brother and younger sister One of his best qualities is that he’s got a lot of drive and is ambitious, which means that he’s achieved a lot in his life. But one of the main reasons he has had such an influence on me is because of the way he helps others. So it’s my Dad who has influenced me and the main reason is his charity work
