SMDC Meeting Highlights

A meeting of the School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) was recently held to discuss the action plan for Jal Pakhwada, focusing on promoting water conservation within the school and local community.

Key Discussions & Decisions

The SMDC emphasized the urgent need for water conservation and the importance of nurturing responsible habits among students. The committee resolved to implement a series of awareness activities to integrate water-saving practices into daily school life.

Appointed Responsibilities

  • Sir Lalnithanga and Sir David Zaikhumtluanga will lead efforts to promote the judicious use of water among students, both at school and at home.

  • Sir Mawia HL will oversee awareness campaigns using social media, electronic, and print platforms to reach a wider audience.

  • Sir C. Vanhmingliana will manage the reuse of water from handwashing units by channeling it into the school garden.

  • Miss C. Zonunmawii will guide students on hygiene practices and educate them about waterborne diseases and safe drinking water handling.

Student Engagement Activities

  • Creative Contributions: Students will be encouraged to design slogans, posters, and pamphlets on water conservation themes. These will be showcased during CCA periods and displayed in the school and community areas.

  • Debates and Discussions: Inter-house debates on water conservation will be organized during CCA sessions.

  • Poster & Essay Competitions: On the theme “Save Water, Save Life.”

  • Rainwater Harvesting Models: Students will participate in developing rainwater harvesting setups on campus.

  • Water Audit Teams: Student groups will be formed to monitor and report on water usage in the school.

Curriculum Integration

Water conservation topics will be introduced in science and environmental studies, encouraging students to explore water-saving technologies through project-based learning.

Community Involvement

Parents and local community members will be invited to participate in awareness drives. Student-made materials will also be displayed in public areas to spread the message beyond the school walls.

At Govt. Mizo HSS, he has been instrumental in implementing practical, real-world projects for students—ranging from software development to cloud tools and database applications.
